Black and White offer a wide range of driving course including class 2 and 4 truck driving courses and  defensive driving courses in Hamilton:

CLASS 1 CAR LICENCE

If you think you are ready to sit your Drivers licence then now is the time to have an assessment drive with us in your vehicle. As this is the vehicle you feel most comfortable in.

As both Roger & Robyn have previous experience as Testing Officers they know the required standard to pass your test first time.

Have an assessment drive with us prior to either your Restricted or Full licence test. We can give you tips and advice on what’s required.

CLASS 2 TRUCK LICENCE

If you’ve been thinking of obtaining your Truck Licence then contact us now.

We have courses running on a regular weekly basis.

We can help you fast track you to a Full Class 2 Licence.

This licence covers driving a Heavy Rigid vehicle of 4,500 kg to 18,000kg.

You must have held a Full Car licence (Class 1) for at least 6 months.

You need to sit and pass the Class 2 Learners Licence Test, we can assist in your training needs to pass this test. This is a mandatory entry level.
(Cost: $93.90 at any Land Transport Agency)

Pass a Medical Examination

Attend and pass our approved NZ Transport Agency course and obtain your Full Class 2 licence immediately (no 6 month wait period)

Our point of difference is that we do not have large classes and we can cater for those that want one on one training.

On successfully passing our course you will be credited with NZQA unit standards 24089  17574.
If your company wishes for us to do the training in the workplace we can do this and they supply the vehicle.

CLASS 4 TRUCK LICENCE

If you’ve been thinking of obtaining your Class 4 Truck Licence then contact us now.

Even better if you are over the age of 25 you only have to hold a class 2 Full Licence for 3 months. If you are under 25 then it is 6 months.

We can help you fast track you to a Full Class 4 Licence.

This licence covers driving a Heavy Rigid vehicle of 18,000kg and above. These are vehicles of six or eight wheel configuration does not include Heavy Trailers.

You need to apply for a Class 4 Learners Licence Test. This is a mandatory entry level.
(Cost: $47.20 at any Transport Agency)

Pass a Medical Examination required if you have not had one in the previous five years.

Attend and pass our approved NZ Transport Agency course.

If your company wishes for us to do the training in the workplace we can do this and they supply the vehicle.

CLASS 5 TRUCK AND TRAILER LICENCE

If you’ve been thinking of obtaining your Truck and Trailer Licence then contact us now. Even better if you are over the age of 25 you only have to hold a class 4 Full Licence for 3 months. If you are under 25 then it is 6 months.

We can help you fast track you to a Full Class 5 Licence attend and pass our approved NZ Transport Agency course

If your company wishes for us to do the training in the workplace we can do this and they supply the vehicle.

Must have a full Class 1 licence

DANGEROUS GOODS COURSE

Our Dangerous Goods course is a full one day course, all training aids and reference materials will be supplied. Cost $280 pp

A new renewal course is available for those that wish to renew the endorsement. This is a half day course - cost $190 pp

A "DG" Endorsement is valid for 5 years.

PASSENGER ENDORSEMENT COURSE

If you are carrying passengers for hire and reward you will need to have a Passenger Endorsement on your Drivers Licence. Such as Taxi, Buses, Shuttles, Dial a Driver, Private Hire etc.

You must have held a Full Class 1 (car) licence for at least two years to be eligible to obtain a "P" Endorsement.

You will need to apply for this endorsement. This can be done at any NZ Transport Agency eg. NZAA / VTNZ.  You will need a medical certificate at time of application.

We offer a course to obtain the unit standards required by NZ Transport Agency.

AREA KNOWLEDGE TEST

If you are driving a taxi with a meter installed then the driver must hold an Area Knowledge Certificate for the area that he is operating. We offer the approved NZ Transport Agency test for Hamilton City.

You must have a good understanding of the English language and a good knowledge of the area (Hamilton City).

VEHICLE RECOVERY COURSE

If you want to drive a vehicle recovery service (for hire or reward) vehicle, you must have a V endorsement on your driver licence.

A vehicle recovery service is a business that tows or recovers vehicles.

You must have held a Full Class 1 (car) licence for at least two years to be eligible to obtain a "V" Endorsement.

You will need to apply for this endorsement. This can be done at any NZ Transport Agency eg. NZAA / VTNZ.  You will need a medical certificate at time of application.

DEFENSIVE DRIVING COURSE

If you want to shorten your Restricted Licence, then attend our Defensive Driving Course. If you are under 25 yrs of age it shortens your Restricted time to 12 months, Over 25 yrs of age it shortens your Restricted time to 3 mths, then you can sit your Full Licence.

If you are under 25 yrs of age you must have held your Class 1 Restricted Licence for at least six months prior to enrolling in our Defensive Driving Course.

Courses run over a 2 week period, Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7 - 9pm, then there is a practical in car session (own vehicle required).
(Cost: $175 per person)

CORPORATE DEFENSIVE DRIVING

We offer the new Defensive Driving Course for the Experienced Driver which has been designed solely for the Experienced Driver.

We offer great packages and you have the choice on selecting which package suits your business needs. The course is based on Risk Management and reduction. A key element is recognition of driver attitudes and behaviours, fatigue, stress and emotions, road rage, incidents and the relationship between drink / drugs and driving.

The course has the offer of theory only which is 4 hours in total or the combination of theory and practical assessment. We would strongly suggest the combination package, as a full written report is completed.

The following prices are based on the training being held in your premises.

Course Fees:  Theory only $190 pp  plus GST  
                    Theory plus practical $240 pp  plus GST  In own company vehicle
