here How do I get my Class 2 Drivers Licence?You will need to: - Have held a full Class 1 (Car) licence for 6 months
- Pass a medical certificate (no older than 60 days)
- Sit and pass the Class 2 Learner Licence (Cost: $79)
- Complete an approved Driver Licence course
- Take Certificate to Agency to have licence updated (Cost: $44.30)
Why do I need a Defensive Driving Course ?By completing A Defensive Driving Course 6 months will be reduced on your Restricted Licence. This means that after holding your Restricted for twelve months you can sit your Full Drivers Licence. How long is the Defensive Driving Course ?You have to attend four nightly sessions from 7 - 9pm. Usually a Mon / Wed night for two weeks. What is a “P” Endorsement?A “P Endorsement” is an endorsement on your Drivers Licence which allows you to carry passengers for hire and reward. How to get a "P" Endorsement?To get a passenger endorsement you must: - Hold, and have held for at least 2 years, a full licence class 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 NZ Driver Licence
- Provide evidence of successful completion of an approved course
- Produce a medical certificate that is not more than 60 days old
- Apply and pay the appropriate fees to Land Transport NZ
- Produce two forms of ID. e.g. Drivers license, passport or birth Certificate as primary ID and bank statement, electricity account, or rates account with their current residential address and which is less than 6 months old as their secondary ID
- Pass a full license test in a car unless you have completed a full license test within the last 5 years
- Pass a “Fit and Proper” person check
What is a "Fit and Proper person" check?NZ Transport Agency will consider any of the following: - Transport related offences
- History of mental health
- Past complaints about a transport service you may have operated
- History of persistent failure to pay fines
- Criminal convictions
What is a "V" Endorsement?A “V” endorsement is an endorsement on your driver’s license which allows you to tow or carry vehicles on a vehicle that is operated under a Vehicle Recovery Service License. What must you do to get a V Endorsement?To get a vehicle recovery endorsement you must: - Hold, and have held for at least 2 years, a full licence class 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 NZ Driver Licence

What is the Full Licence Test?The Full Licence test is an on-road driving test that restricted licence holders must pass to get a full NZ driver Licence. You will have to demonstrate safe driving techniques and identify hazards across a wide variety of traffic situations. |
